Our commitment to education is rooted in Mona’s history as a special education teacher, an administrator, and a parent. We are creating new international scholarship opportunities at the high school and college levels for young adults entering the fields of healthcare and education.
We are working to ensure that children across Louisiana have access to the food and nutrition they need to be productive in their classes to reach their full potential. More than ever, there is a need for a food pantry at 8 inner-city schools in the Caddo Parish area. Mona Wright has coordinated with the schools to deliver their initial supplies and to deliver over 200 snack packs donated by our partner, The Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana. It is our plan to make monthly deliveries and re-stock where needed.
We believe in promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women in today’s world. One key initiative that we are developing is the opportunity to educate, assist, and financially support younger, especially diverse, women as they learn financial planning and portfolio management. Our objective is to establish a female stock club that focuses on group learning, expansion of financial literacy, and group initiative on making investment decisions.
We have partnered with the Louisiana Department of Corrections after learning that in North Louisiana, over 5,000 men are active in the Prison Re-Entry Program. People in this program have a need for the appropriate dress they can wear to job interviews and meetings. After Stephen Wright's retirement, he had over 30 suits and sports coats, along with shirts, ties, and slacks that he wanted to donate to a place of real need.
This themed trivia fundraiser is held annually in partnership with The Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana. All proceeds from the event will support our inner-city school food pantry program and the food backpack program in our area. In our first year, we raised over $22,000.
